PAO Sovcomflot (MOEX:FLOT) is one of the world's leading energy shipping companies, specialising in the transportation of crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied gas, as well as the servicing of offshore oil and gas production. The Group's fleet comprises
142 vessels with a combined deadweight of 12,479,001 tonnes with the average age of 12.0 years. More than 80 vessels have an ice class.
Sovcomflot is committed to high standards in terms of energy efficiency and the reduction of environmental footprint in line with the United Nations sustainability goals and the International Maritime Organisation’s emissions reduction targets for 2050. The long-term strategy commits the SCF Group to continuously reduce the carbon footprint of its fleet operations.
We believe that LNG fuel is amongst the cleanest burning fuel options currently available for shipping operations. In 2018, SCF introduced a ‘Green Funnel’ series of the world’s first LNG-fuelled Aframax tankers. Today, SCF has six such tankers in operation, with five more LNG-fuelled tankers under construction. By 2025, SCF will operate over 40 vessels using LNG as a primary fuel, which will significantly reduce the impact on the environment. For the foreseeable future, SCF plans to strongly focus ots shipbuilding portfolio on vessels designed to use LNG as their primary fuel.
From 2018 to 2021, LNG fuel has helped reduce the total CO2 emissions of SCF’s six ‘Green Funnel’ tankers by over 56,000 tonnes or by over 14 per cent annually on average. In total, SCF has achieved a 30 per cent reduction in the carbon intensity index of its fleet from 2010 to 2020, through adopting various cutting-edge solutions.
SCF is involved in the servicing of large oil and gas projects in Russia and around the world: Sakhalin-1; Sakhalin-2; Varandey; Prirazlomnoye; Novy Port; Yamal LNG, and Tangguh (Indonesia). The Group is headquartered in St. Petersburg, with offices in Moscow, Novorossiysk, Murmansk, Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, London, Limassol, and Dubai.
