Sovcomflot and STLC sign long-term cooperation agreement

SCF Group (Sovcomflot) and Russia’s State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) have entered into a cooperation agreement that seeks to develop long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation, aimed at promoting Russian shipping, shipbuilding and the shipment of Russian export cargoes by sea. As part of this partnership, the two companies plan to share their experience relating to the design and implementation of innovative methods and processes for the financing of vessel construction and acquisition.

The agreement was signed on 6 December 2017, at the 11th international Transport of Russia forum, by Sergey Frank, President and CEO of Sovcomflot, and Sergey Khramagin, CEO of STLC, with Maxim Sokolov, Russia’s Minister of Transport, in attendance.

Earlier in September 2017 Sovcomflot and STLC, together with Rosneft and the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, signed a set of agreements that entail the construction of five LNG-powered Aframax crude oil tankers to be operated by Sovcomflot, on behalf of Rosneft. The construction of these tankers will contribute to developing the production of state-of-the-art large-capacity civilian vessels in Russia’s Far East.

Historically, Sovcomflot has always been one of the largest customers of Russian civilian shipbuilding industry. Over the last 15 years, Russian shipbuilders have delivered 18 vessels to Sovcomflot, with a total contractual value close to USD 1.0 billion.
